How Lexington Will Market Your Book
Advance Book Information (ABI) – before your book is even published we begin marketing it by sending information about it electronically to the major wholesalers that supply libraries and bookstores and other major accounts such as Amazon. This typically results in substantial prepublication orders for the book.
Our website – All Lexington titles are listed on our website (www.lexingtonbooks.com), complete with a book description, a cover image, and endorsements. We’ll add excerpts from journal reviews once they appear.
Review Copies – We will send 8-10 review copies of your book to academic/professional journals using the list you provided on your Essential Information Form as a guide. All new titles are sent toChoiceas well. Review copies are usually sent out within 4-6 weeks of the book’s publication. Please keep in mind that it often takes journals 1-2 years to review a book and that not every book gets reviewed. If you see a published review of your book, please mail or email us a copy; journals are often very slow to send us clippings. We’ll use an excerpt from published reviews on our website and possibly in catalogs.
Catalogs – New titles are featured in our annual catalogs, which are mailed to thousands of libraries and individuals in your discipline.
Conference exhibits – Your book will be on display at appropriate academic/professional conferences for its first two years of “life.” While we cannot attend every conference in your field, we attend at least one major conference in eachfield each year. Our books are offered at a special conference discount during the meeting and for at least 60 days afterward.
Booksellers – All Lexington titles are available on both amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com, making them easily accessible for purchase by individuals. They are also available for sale on our own website.
Email – Some new titles are featured in periodic email marketing campaigns featuring books in a particular subject area.
Flyers – We will provide you with a PDF flyer for your book via email, offering a 30% discount for the book, which you can use to help promote the book. We typically create the flyer once the book’s cover design has been created (as the production of the book is being finished, about 4 weeks before publication), but if you need a flyer sooner than that we can provide one without the cover image if you request the flyer at least a weekbefore you need it.
